The following tables represent Veritas scores on the Stanford 10 Achievement Test. The Stanford 10 multiple-choice assessment helps educators find out what students know and are able to do. The Stanford 10 questions mirror as closely as possible the developmental process of good instruction and the kinds of instructional activities and materials used in exemplary programs. Over the last 80 years, the Stanford Achievement Test has become the de facto test used by public and private school systems nationwide to gauge the academic performance of students.
The results of the test give us reliable data on our students' academic performance and provide generalized comparisons between overall academic performance at Veritas and other schools.
The numbers below represent the complete battery scores - the average of all subtests. For example, in Spring 2006, on average, Veritas 4th grade students scored above 87% of the students taking the same test nationally.
These scores speak to the strong core knowledge of Veritas students across subject areas, particularly Math and Reading. Although these scores do not encompass the full benefits of a classical and Christian education at Veritas, they speak to students' solid academic foundations built through our teachers, parents and the classical curriculum.
The Median Grade Equivalent scores show that Veritas classes are working between 3 and 4 grade levels ahead of the national average, and between 1 and 2 grades ahead of Association of Christian School International (ACSI) schools.
Spring 2006 highlights:
- 80% of Veritas students scored in the fourth quartile (76% or above)
- 100% of Veritas students scored in the above average level (50% or above)
- 93% of Veritas students scored in the advanced or proficient level on the Bible test.
