College Guidance

Veritas considers it a privilege to team with students and parents in identifying the best college match.  This 3-cord team approach encourages student accountability, parent education, and school networking with colleges and universities.  Exposure to the college selection process begins in the 9th grade with Brown Bag Lunches each quarter.  These lunches continue through the spring of the senior year.  During these informal times, young Rhetoric students can listen and observe all stages and begin formulating their own plans.

In addition to informal discussions, guest speakers, College Representatives, and faculty panels are also arranged to benefit the students.  Parents meet with the College Counselor and Head of School for an evening full of information and questions and answers in the fall of each year.  Rhetoric School class trips also include a college campus visit.

By the junior year, this intentional exposure becomes more focused when our students narrow their choices for application.  We offer one on one help with applications, follow up, essay writing and scholarship searches.  In addition to informing through planned, on-campus events, our primary communication tool is through a password protected Edline account.  Here, parents and students receive notices, reminders, links, and downloadable resources pertinent to their graduating class and to keep them on track.
