  • An Evening of Senior Thesis Orations on April 10

We are delighted to announce a new addition to our annual tradition of senior thesis presentations: on Wednesday, April 10, at 7:00 PM, three of our seniors will be delivering their orations to the Veritas community in the Lingle gym. The evening orations are intended as an opportunity for parents, grandparents, and friends to get a firsthand look at how the training we provide at Veritas prepares students to speak about substantive topics with wisdom and eloquence. The thesis orations will be:
    • "The Fourth Commandment: A Foretaste of Heaven" by Daniel Murphy
    • "The Improper Use of the True Crime Genre in Contemporary Society" by Natalie Petersen
    • "Saying What You Mean and Meaning What You Say" by Kate Lanphear
Each speech will last about 20 minutes, followed by a panel-style Q&A for all three of the students.
Note that this is the Wednesday after we return from Spring Break - mark your calendar if you'd like to attend, we would love to see you there!

  • Lower School Coffee & Conversation on January 25

The administration warmly invites our Lower School parents (JK - 6) to continue their dialogue together at the next Coffee & Conversation on Thursday, January 25. Parents are invited to gather in the Virginia Hall auditorium at 8:00 AM for coffee, followed by conversation with Mr. Tyson Lee and Academic Dean Andrew Smith on the topic below:
Why Do We Have Both Rules and Grace? | Training children according to rules might seem to be at odds with training them according to grace, but it's a misunderstanding to pit the two against each other. As we seek to train the whole child - body, soul, mind, will, and affections - even the small and seemingly insignificant rules at school and at home play a crucial role. Join us to find out why and to explore these ideas together.
