Grandparents' Day Video Gallery

Our teachers and students wanted to share some of the things that they've learned with you in the videos below. It doesn't replace seeing you on campus, but we hope you enjoy them!

Recitations and Music Class Videos

During the course of the year, Veritas students of all ages commit Scripture, poems, chants, and songs to memory. While they are not as polished as our usual Grandparents' Day programs, we hope that these scenes from our everyday learning and life together give you an enjoyable glimpse inside the life our our classrooms.

In our music classes, the teachers approached COVID restrictions as an opportunity to focus on additional elements of music besides singing (although we still sing!). Students in different grade levels spent time learning about rhythm and percussion, participating in outdoor dances, and studying music theory, as well as having additional opportunities for music appreciation.

We are so thankful for the creativity of our faculty and grateful to the students who invested so much time in this work!

The Upper School Houses

The Veritas House system was established to further the mission of the school in grades 7 - 12 through the formation of small communities within the Upper School student body. Within these houses, students have opportunity for fellowship, leadership, service, healthy competition, and mentoring by faculty members and older students, ensuring that students know each other and build relationships across grade levels in the regular life of the Upper School community.  In summer 2020, the Upper School reorganized into eight houses (previously four) in order to better meet the needs of our growing student body.

The eight new houses are named for Italian saints and exemplars of the faith who dwelt in cities visited on the senior class trip to Italy: Ambrose, Ansano, Benedict, Cecilia, Clement, Felicitas, Minias, and Pudenziana.

In the fall, the Upper School houses engaged in a friendly competition to present the best skit for their classmates. The House of Minias chose to describe the life of their house namesake - we hope you enjoy their light-hearted presentation as you learn more about this worthy saint!
