Mr. Chris Lucas

Elective Teacher (Guitar)
Mr. Chris Lucas began playing guitar at age 11, after 5 years of piano study. He went on to earn two music degrees from VCU, including a Masters in Composition. Although he worked full-time at The Richmond Times-Dispatch until retirement, much of his time has been devoted to music as a songwriter, performer, arranger, and accompanist, both at his church and in the mid-Atlantic area at large. Chris taught a Beginning Guitar Class at VCU for many years as well as teaching privately.  He has recorded four solo CDs of his own songs, three self-produced collaborations with other artists, and one Christmas CD with the Celtic trio PolyCeltic. Chris regularly performs at local establishments and he is also the composer of The Three Penny Cantata, a Lenten/Easter folk/pop song-cycle which he and other local artists perform yearly at local churches. Chris lives with his wife Sue and their special needs daughter in Chesterfield County, where they enjoy walking and sight-seeing.
