Mr. Daniel Payne
Fifth Grade Teacher
Mr. Daniel Payne earned his Bachelor of Interdisciplinary Studies in Liberal Studies for Early and Elementary Education from VCU and is currently pursuing an M.Ed. in Educational Leadership and Policy Studies at University of Richmond. Daniel’s interest in the classical tradition began in high school, where he first encountered historic texts as part of a humanities program. Daniel has worked at Elijah House Academy for the past eight years, where he has served in roles that include Dean of Students, fourth grade teacher, and (most recently) fifth and sixth grade humanities teacher. As a humanities teacher, he created a curriculum that included history, literature, and composition, with a focus on classical pedagogy. Daniel and his wife, Anna, have one son. In his free time, he can be found listening to baseball on the radio, collecting records, and podcasting about CS Lewis.
