Mrs. Heidi Thurmond

Lower School Music Teacher

Mrs. Heidi Thurmond holds a Master’s Degree in Music Education, specializing in Music Therapy, from the University of Kansas and a Bachelor’s in Flute Performance from Virginia Commonwealth University. She is a Certified Orff-Schulwerk Specialist, bringing a unique approach to successful music learning for young children. Prior to coming to Veritas, she taught music in preschools for 10 years. She also developed a program of special needs music classes for children and adults. In addition to classroom teaching, Mrs. Thurmond is a professional flutist and enjoys teaching private flute lessons and working as a freelance musician throughout the Richmond area. She and her family have been involved at Veritas School for more than 10 years.
