Male & Female: A Panel Discussion of The Genesis of Gender by Abigail Favale
Dr. Grant Holbrook, Ms. Emily Price & Mr. Grant Gombert

You are invited to join Upper School teachers Grant Holbrook, Emily Price, and Grant Gombert, along with Lower School parent Erin Holbrook, as they present some of the hopes, insights, and concerns that have characterized recent faculty discussions around the issues of sex and gender. This winter, nearly thirty faculty & staff read The Genesis of Gender by Abigail Favale and met weekly to reason through its implications together. This Veritas U session is a window into teacher lunch table conversations about our classroom experiences and the public intellectuals (especially Dr. Favale) who are articulating a distinctly Christian way forward amidst all kinds of sexual fracture and anthropological chaos. Reading the book is encouraged but not required.

About The Genesis of Gender:
"The question of gender—who we are as men and women—has never been more pressing, or more misunderstood. Weaving personal experience with expert knowledge, Dr. Abigail Favale provides an in-depth yet accessible account of the gender paradigm: a framework for understanding reality and identity that has recently risen to prominence. Favale traces the genealogy of gender to its origins in feminism and postmodern thought, describing how gender has come to eclipse sex, and how that shift is reshaping language, law, medicine, sexuality, and our own self-perceptions."
